Aisling O'Sullivan, more popularly known by the stage name Aisling Bea (born on March 16, 1984) is an Irish comedian and actress. Bea began her stand-up comedy career in 2011, after appearing in bits on various Irish television shows as well as British series from 2009. The year 2012 saw her regularly being featured on sketch comedy programs as well as sitcoms. In 2012, after winning an award for her performance at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards she began to be booked regularly for numerous panel shows for which she is now a regular. In 2016, and 2017 she served as team leader on 8 Out of 10 Cats. Also, she is an actress on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. The parents of her are Brian and Helen O'Sullivan. She has a younger sister, Sinead. In 2012 she became the second female to receive the So You Think you're Funny award. The surname she uses is Bea to pay tribute to her late father. Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan, born Kildare town County Kildare on 16 March 1984. The father of her Brian was an animal veterinarian. He committed his own life when Bea was just three years old but she wasn't told what happened to him until she was 13. She chose the stage name Bea as a tribute to her father. She created an article for The Guardian in 2017 about the suicide of her family members. Bea along with her younger sister Sinead were fostered by their mom Helen (nee Moloney) an elementary school teacher jockey trainer and former professional jockey. Their family was fascinated by racing horses and horses. Bea began her career as a tour-guide at the Irish National Stud. However she realized very early that the race industry was not the best fit for her.
