Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder chose her name after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother was both an author and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father had an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder moved with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. There were no electric lights. Ryder was an avid reader and spent her time reading books because there was no TV. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. In 1986, she got her first big-screen role in the movie Lucas she was only fifteen years old. Ryder experienced bullying at high school. Ryder hoped her acting career would alter this. Unfortunately, that did not take place. But she continued to chase the dreams she had. She got her break through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder kept playing successful roles in several movies. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
